Review: ProPhoto 3 Blog v3 Theme

When I decided to use www.john-lo.com as a blog site for 2010. I wanted to look somewhat different then when I had my blog at http://www.johnlophotography.com/blog (I was using the DWF Photographer Theme). I had a few photog friends, including my good bubby William Eng, who was using the theme/template from ProPhoto Blogs. I really like what I saw and the features that came with to help make the site easier to post, edit, upload, and blah blah blah. I might be good at created website and coding back in the days. Right now, I just don’t have the free time to do it anymore. Anyway, just so happen when I was thinking about using them, they announced the release of Version 3. After doing a quick research and saw the demo and photos few days after the release. I am now a happy ProPhoto Blogs user. YAY!! So far I only ran into one problem with the contact page. It kept telling me “Not Found” after the submit button is press. I didn’t really look into it much. Didn’t bother contacting Prophoto blogs or my web hosting. (I think its my web hosting problem) I just didn’t have the time. So I hurry and put on my thinking cap on and created a contact page instead of using the one from Prophoto blogs. I wonder how many inquiries I’ve lost because of it?!?! Oh well.

The layout is pretty much the default that came with the template. I did make some changed with the colors so it would go with my style, mood and my logo.  :-)

If you are interested using them, please use my discount code. You will get $10 off.
The discount code for the ProPhoto Blogs is  JOHNLO864

Here’s a little vid clip from ProPhoto Blogs.

Moo Minicards

Moo!!!  Moo!!!

Branding is a very important part of your business.  It represent who are you as an individual as well as the organization you work for.  I only wish I pay more attention in my Marketing 101 when I was in St. John’s.  Oh well!!

Since I am almost running out the Moo Minicards I ordered back in September, it is time to ordered some more.

Just arrived last night. The new cards now contains my new logo, new web address & email and my studio number.   YAY!!!

Doh!   I just realized I didn’t include the other side of the minicard with my contact info and logo in the pictures above.  hahaha, oh well!!!

Think Tank Airport International V2.0 Review

What person like to carry their gears back to their car after a long day shooting? Well last summer I was asking myself that question while walking back to the car. Few weeks later, I sold all my Lowepro backpacks and got myself the Think Tank Airport International v2.0. Yes its a roller and I can use it as a carry-on on any flight both international and domestic. But of course no matter what, you still need check with your airline and TSA since things does changes everyday thanks to the people who causing such problems.

Here’s some Pros and Cons I have put together about the bag….

Pros:
1) Can be use as a carry-on on a flight.
2) it has wheels
3) my shoulder and lower back doesn’t hurt anymore.
4) it has two locks that’s TSA approved.
5) well built
6) roomy
7) Looks like a normally carry-on luggage.

Cons:
1) Too heavy – depending on your gears you have inside, the airline can still stop you from using is as a carry-on due to the weight. So need to be smart when packing and going to security. I’ve heard story from other photog being stopped at the check point.
2) WAY Too Expensive  <—-  but the money was well spent : the quality of the bag.

Well that’s all i can think of. Here’s some pics inside the bag with my gears. Hope my brief review will help you to decide if it’s the right bag for you and your gears.
