Review: Prophoto Blogs Theme

Filed under Product Reviews . Tags: , , , , — • Written by johnlo September 9, 2011 @ 10:28 am

Recently I’ve been getting a lot of questions on what theme I am using on my wordpress blog. I figure I would put something together again and give you guys my current experience since the last time I blogged about them. You can read that posted here Review: ProPhoto 3 Blog v3 Theme.

ProPhoto Blogs is what I am using. Of course there are many other themes out there. and I am sure they are great. Personally I like ProPhoto Blogs a lot.  It’s clean; Easy to navigate. Some might say it looks like what everyone else are using. Well, I will say this. I rather the viewer be familiar with a theme they’ve seen, and know their way around then something that will take them years to find the link to check out the gallery. As a regular surfer,  I dont like to spend more then 10 seconds to locate a link or trying to figure out a way to get to the next page. I’ve seen some bad ones out there.

I got a $10 off ProPhoto Blogs discount code JOHNLO864 for you to use.

Here’s a little vid clip from ProPhoto Blogs.

Yelp is Sued After Dispute Over a Review | NY Times

How much do you trust the reviews posted online?    Well its appears that Yelp is being sued after a dispute over a review.   HAHAHA!   I do know one thing…  a client who hired me about two years ago (the Mother of the Bride actually the one who hired me) did post a review of me at Yelp last year and in a few days or weeks later, it was taken off.   I didnt know of this until the Mother of the Bride informed me.  The review is still in her account.  Just no one can see it.   Later I found out that Yelp felt the review was not accurate.   LOL!!!!    Whatever!!!!  As long as the client and the Mother of the Bride are happy, it is all that matters.   But still, reviews like this can hurt small businesses.

Here’s the article from the NYTimes:   Yelp is Sued After Dispute Over a Review.

P.S.   I made a very tasty pot of Chilli last night.  YUMMY!

Mini Review of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3

Filed under Gears,Personal Photography,Product Reviews . Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , — • Written by johnlo January 29, 2010 @ 6:22 pm

My wife Amanda is also a photographer.  She’s not all about having the best camera or lenses in her bag.  She will use whatever is available.  For her, it is about the moment and not about how sharp or correctly the image is exposure.   She normally carry her little Canon PowerShot SD850 IS point and shoot everywhere she goes.  Its light, compact and fits in her handbag.   Last week I decided it was time for an upgrade.   As we all know, the shutter lag on a point and shoot can be very annoying, especially when we are trying to capture Dylan, who wouldn’t stop for 1 second to have his pictures taken.   I search and search and came up with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3.  This camera is nice.   I got it in blue.  Oh and guess where I got it at??   My favorite camera store Adorama. And I had to honor to meet a very good man, Joel Meisels.  Anyway, here are a few spec that got me interested.

25-300mm
10.1 megapixels
movie/motion mode in 720p (AVCHD Lite HD)
The ISO can go as high as 6400
it has an optical Image Stabilization
3″ LCD screen….
and have lots of pre-set mode to play around with.

We, l meant she is still testing the camera and playing around with it.   I did use the movie mode at the Apothecary Hymns show last week for the first time.    Note: The three images on that blog were taken with the band’s camera, Canon Powershot G9.  Only the Video clip was done with this Panasonic DMC-ZS3.  if you are interested, you can see the 2 minutes clip here.   I didn’t change the setups – only using default or whatever the camera was setup were when I opened the box.    Right now I am happy with it….  I mean my wife is very happy with it.

if you interested to learn more about the camera she has..  here’s the direct link on their website.  Panasonic DMC-ZS3
